Week 17 - Family History Wonders

 Hello!!

I wish I had more to say, but every day has a tendency to run into the others until suddenly it's Monday again! The most notable thing of this week has been family history. Sister Taylor is a family history genius and posted on a Facebook offering family history classes and we nearly started teaching two people because of it! They ended up falling through, but that's the closest thing to a success we've had in a long time. We are teaching a woman in our ward how to do her family history though which has been so fun. I'm learning just as much as she is from Sister Taylor!!

We are encouraged to do 10-20 hours of service a week during all of this when we are stuck at our apartments, and family history counts for that, so I've actually been doing my family history quite a bit this week under my wonderful companions guidance and it has been so fun!! I've never found sources, updated info, added people, etc, but as I have, I have now a good 6 new names of my ancestors who have had their information added to them. I was so excited when I started to see some success from working on it.

Other things, are we made a "sound studio" for recording audio for a video... out of mattresses and blankets. It did make the sound better though! Being a missionary on facebook is so weird. I can't even begin to express it. If this quarantine keep continuing as it has been, then as of May 16 I will have spent OVER HALF of my mission in quarantine. Hey, at least it's memorable!

This last week we also gained 13 new missionaries to our mission with 16 coming this upcoming week. Here in Dickinson we gained a Sister who was serving in Australia previously. Shes so fun to be around. I also got to meet Sister Wilson who had been serving in Mexico City and got to have a whole conversation with her in Spanish!! I couldnt say everything I wanted to, but I could understand her and get my basic points across. Maybe sometime on my mission I'll get to serve with a spanish speaking companion. I would love that!

I hope you're all doing well. All is great here! Quarantine and all. At this point, it feels normal. Until next week!
