Week 8 - Noah Had Power Tools and a Truck?
Hello everyone!
This week had some pretty eventful things I suppose haha. I'm wanting to have this p-day be a bit more of a me-day, so if it seems choppy or not too eloquent, that's why. Ok, on to the things you may or may not care about!!
Ok, so Sister Booth got threatened Monday night. We were going to go see a family we teach but the woman wasn't home so we were just chatting with the man and we were planning on saying, "Hello. Goodbye!" Yeah... didn't happen. He was talking.... and talking... and poor Sister Booth couldn't hear him because he talks kinda low and her ears were clogged from her head cold, so she was just slightly smiling and nodding and to this guy it looked like a smirk and that made him mad. He has a bit of a violence issue that he's working on, but he said "You know, when you smirk like that I don't feel like doing anything nice." This sir had a big ol' knife on his belt too. Sister Booth didn't even hear him though!! So I was ready to get us out of there, but she just tried to look comprehensive. All was well, but it was a bit sketchy haha.
The members of our ward are awesome! We've been working hard at getting members to our lessons, and they have answered our prayers! It makes a huge difference to have a friend at church and in the ward to support you.
Sad thing of the week: we had to stop teaching Madeline. It broke my heart, but she just isn't ready to change yet. Hopefully the missionaries here in 6 months will be able to change her heart.
One cool day we found 4 potential people to teach! One thing I've learned is that African people are awesome. They love Christ and love talking about Him and have such open hearts.
One of the people we found that day was a man whom we sent over to the elders by the end of this week because this sir had the WRONG idea of who we are and what we do. He was under the idea he was texting just me and wanted me to come over alone when he was home alone. BIG NOPE. Have fun, elders!
An awesome we're working on reactivating loves makeup, so we did makeup with her at her house while casually talking about the gospel. Sister Booth was not happy hahaha.
There's a woman whom we had dinner with last week and we found out she needed help ripping down her wallpaper, so we helped her out with that this week. Fabric softener and hot water works wonders! It was nice to use my hands for a few hours. It helped clear my head.
Anyone remember Bill and the demons he called us about? Well, we had a nice phone call with him again this week. Oh brother. He shared Ezekiel 1:9-11 with us and took in such a wrong direction!!! Apparently since nothing is new on the earth, Noah had power tools and a cell phone and a truck, and the world was like it is right now and then God wiped it all out and we now have the exact same things. Huh?? I don't think so, my friend. Sweet guy and very dedicated to the bible, but wow.
Honestly, we were having a bit of a discouraging week, but then Sunday night a family we taught made our whole week. We went over and only the woman was listening, but we sat there for 20 minutes waiting for the others to join us, and eventually 4 others joined - 2 whom we've been meeting with every other time we've been there and 2 new ones. We had gone in with a really solid lesson plan--and didn't follow it at all. We just shared the video, "The Savior Understands Me" with Elder Holland (all y'all should go watch that asap btw) and had a discussion. The reverence and spirit in that room was undeniable. Every person there shared their thoughts and had a desire to change. They are all going to begin having family prayer and the 2 nonmembers there are now reading the Book of Mormon together. I left wanted to shout for joy!! I can't wait to keep working with them.
Love you all! Until next week :)
