Week Something - Busy Week!

Image
Hey everyone! Rumour has it that because I didn't get a weekly email out last week, people were worried I was dead! Fear not, for I am alive! However, my motivation to write an email is very low. Here's a list of the week's highlights then I'll add some pics! 1. Zone conference was on Thursday! 2. We did a "Hallowspring" service activity with the city to make up for the canceled Halloween activity last year 3. We found 3 people to teach!! Love you all  Sister Balls

Street contacts from our house!

Hello everyone! It has been a week full of adventures here in our little house this week! The highlight is that yesterday we found 2 new people on the street to teach without ever leaving our house! Miracle I know! What happened was that Hermana and I were just in our office calling like usual and we heard this tapping noise for about 2 minutes. Turns out it was someone ¨knocking¨ at our door. We go out and when he sees me he just starts to smile! What happened was that last week he was walking to his house and heard me talking on the phone with my family on Pday in English! So that night when he heard us talking again he stopped to ask if I would teach his son english, because he knew that I was foreign and that people with black tags are nice. Of course we said yes!! Am I ready to teach someone in spanish english? I'm not sure, but God and Hermana Castro will help so I am pumped!   Also this week we had a battle with ants! Off and on we had problems with maybe 20 or so every we

There is no escaping the missionaries!

It was a good week! I mean every new person that we found last week dogged our calls so I mean that was kind of a bummer... we finally got phone minutes this week and so we could finally call people normally instead of through apps! Then we went to call one of our people and she answered the phone so happy and called us friends, but then she asked who we were because she didn't have our contact in her normal phone and we said we were the missionaries and then her whole demeanor changed. She said she was at work and she would call us when she has time. This happened with 3 people this week! It hurts a bit. I have faith that one day another set of missionaries will call them and they will grow to love their calls! Because little do they know that their number will never be deleted from our phone so they will be receiving calls from us for years and years to come! There is no escaping the missionaries:)   We started teaching more English classes this week! It is actually so much

Week 68 - Minnesota, Audits, Baptismal Dates, Service, and More

WOW. This week was absolutely insane and incredible. I have time for the highlights and brief synapses and not much else. BUT. I have a lot of pictures, which, rumor has it, are worth thousands of words.  So, early in the week was consumed by doing area book planner audits (almost none of you know what that means, but think hours of mundane, mind numbing drudgery). We had a hard deadline for Thursday evening, and we got it done in the knick of time! On Thursday, we also went and did landscaping at the Dakota Zoo for service! That was a lot of fun, and a lot of leaves! We filled up 5 barrels of leaves by the end of it. It felt good to go and do some physical labor though, even if it did result in me getting a stupid horse fly bite. It also inspired today's expedition to the zoo for simple pleasure. Good times. Friday we went and helped out my favorite members EVER with some yard work, and we then got fed lunch AND they gave us road trip snacks--including licorice! My road trip mus

Week 66 - Family History Is the Best!

Well hello there! Here is an actual weekly email for you for a change, and what a week it was! For starters, we had visited a woman in our ward who has two teenage girls named Tiffany and Tara who haven't been baptized yet. She came out and talked with us for a second, and even said hi to us at church the next day (last Sunday) and introduced us to Tiffany and Tara! That was already really sweet, but then it got even better! Later in the week, she sent us a text saying Tiffany and Tara hadn't been baptized, and asked if we would be willing to start teaching them the lessons every week after church and help them get baptized!!!!!! We were so excited and still are. It's great. It's not often that people walk up to you and ask to be baptized! The next huge miracle happened in McClusky, the cutest darn town of 409 people you'll ever see. It's about an hour north of Bismarck. The one and only active member up there, Sister Bowers, set up a time for us to come up an

3 Months!

I feel like even less happened this week than last week! We are still in quarantine and don't have a set date of when it will end, but we pray for Chile every day!     This week we were able to contact a lot of members which has been awesome! We are teaching 2 people named Dief and Natacha and they are always super interested in what we have to say and have a ton of questions. They even came to a family home evening and Church with us this week! Other than that we are just really working hard on trying to contact people. We had a devotional this week about how God has prepared people to listen to our message. We just have to find them. I have definitely seen miracles of that happen within my zone. So we just make phone calls all day every day to find that one!   I don't know if you guys have picked up on it yet but I  really hate not being able to leave our house! But this week me and Herman's Castro have been doing fun things throughout the day!  We have been teaching ea

Detours and Doggies!

Not much is new! This whole quarantine thing is getting really old. Friday will be the start of week 4! I hate it. So much. But  I'm so happy that I was able to at least make it here before all the borders closed again, that is a huge blessing. We have been working a lot with members this week and I am constantly amazed at how willing to serve they are, and how strong their testimonies are! They all ask us if we need anything which melts my heart! This week was also transfers but I still get to be with Hermana Castro so we are still partying it up!   The work is going really slow and we didn't find anyone new to teach but here are the two highlights from the week!    Friday I had to go to the Mission Office to sign my Visa and on the way home we only had 10 minutes until our 2 hour pass expired. We were anxiously waiting for our bus and finally saw it and practically ran on. Turns out it was the bus J07e not J07c. What was supposed to be a 13 minute bus ride turned into a 1
